Central Auditory Processing Disorder Online Therapy System
CAPDOTS™ is a specialized listening program designed to support and improve auditory processing difficulties. The evidence-based program uses dichotic listening activities to mature the peripheral auditory system, reduce ear advantages, reduce damage to the auditory nerve, improve auditory memory, and improve divided auditory attention. Since auditory processing plays a significant role in reading development, academic performance, and positive social relationships, CAPDOTS can be a crucial part of a comprehensive treatment plan for auditory processing difficulties and disorders.
Who Benefits from CAPDOTS?Individuals with a diagnosis of Auditory Processing Disorder that involves binaural integration and/or binaural separation difficulties are excellent candidates for CAPDOTS. An auditory processing disorder may occur in isolation or as part of a neurodivergence or additional diagnosis, including ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, and speech and language disorders. For those looking to improve their auditory attention, hone their auditory discrimination, more easily follow verbal directions, parse important information from background noise, or strengthen their overall auditory cortex, CAPDOTS is an excellent option.

How does CAPDOTS work?CAPDOTS is a computer-based program, accessible anywhere with wifi connectivity, during which the client listens to a structured series of dichotic listening activities to engage in evidence-based auditory training. Within daily listening exercises, the client listens to words or numbers presented separately to each ear via headphones and repeats back what they hear. An assistant (often the parent/caregiver/partner), trained by the facilitating therapist, helps to mark responses as correct/incorrect, and the program slowly increases in difficulty and complexity over time.
